MY STORY – April was born 3.5 months early and was drunk and high and had to live through detoxing her body. She was 2.2 ounces and was 13 1/4 ” long. April was in the NICU for 104 days. She had many health issues going against her when she was born. The staff at St. Mary’s was wonderful to her. They took such good care and stayed in touch with us. April wouldn’t bottle feed. So they thought for sure she would need a feeding tube to come home. April needed love. Since we were out here in MN with her sister and brother. I asked Social services if we could get a Foster mother involved. To come rock and hold her like only a mother could. They found Tara! Tara was the Angel April needed. April began a turn around. This little girl was a fighter and still is. I flew to grand junction in April of 2006 and met her in the hospital at 5 pounds. My heart melted! She was our youngest granddaughter at the time. Now she is our beautiful daughter. Dave I Megan and Dakota drove out to Grand Junction in May of 2006 and brought our beautiful baby girl home. Long story short April never needed that feeding tube, she fights her way through obstacles and all those curve balls that life throws her way. She works hard not to let her disease or her disabilities get the best of her. She does have her days like all of us! We adopted April and her 2 siblings on Oct. 2nd 2006. She has ARND. She has asthma and is 1/2″ shorter on one side.

STRENGTHS – April can sew fabric without a pattern and make beautiful things. She is very creative I love my animals also ask me something I will talk to my tablet and figure it out. She Googles alot a alot!!

STRUGGLES – April struggles with in her words and she has many sensory issues. She has a hard time with people touching her stuff or if her food is touching. If a bun gets a rip or a mark in it, she can not eat it. April is extremely organized. She has a hard time if anything is out of place. April can’t swallow pills or anything she is not sure of.

MY WISH – April’s wish is please give me time to answer a question! I wish my brain acted faster but it doesn’t. Please wait. I promise I know the answer. I wrote as she talked. This frustrates her. She tells people please wait I can tell you in a minute.
